I love to journal and both here and on paper work for me. Each morning, when I first get up, I grab my journal and write about the day ahead and the gratitude I feel. I remember when Jim Rohn once stated, “There are three things to leave behind: your photographs, your library, and your personal journals. These things are certainly going to be more valuable to future generations than your furniture!” This is part of my code too. My library, my journals and my photographs. Though, now all can be done digitally.
While times have changed, the ability to write will always be important. Being able to pen our ideas or ideas we discovered onto paper or computer will help leave a legacy. It will also help to create new industries.
“Be a collector of good ideas, but don’t trust your memory. The best collecting place for all of the ideas and information that comes your way is your journal.” -Jim Rohn
Journals is a simple, but amazing tool! You are able to dictate your life at certain moments. Lessons learned and lessons yet to be learned. Wisdom set forth at each point in your life.
Wouldn’t it be great to discover what the younger version of you thought? Imagine picking up a diary or journal from the teenage you and reading the life you led at that time. Imagine your children, grandchildren and descendants reading about what you went through.
Now is the time to get started (if you haven’t already). You can start your own blog (like here on WordPress.com), open a Word document or go the old-fashioned way and write in a journal or composition book. Make it fun! Just let what you felt each day out. Don’t overthink it either. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about being you. The more you do it, the easier it becomes.
Who knows, the journaling you do may one day lead you to become a writer. Well, guess what? When you do journal, you are a writer. Just do it and do it and do it.
